The State Duma decided that Russia is ready to audit its social policy being carried out by Council of Europe. The State Duma ratified reconsidered European social charter of May, 3rd, 1996. The document was supported by 407 deputies, 2 deputies were against, the correspondent of "Polit.ru" Lev Fajnberg transfers. The European social charter was opened for signing in 1961 and came into force in 1965. In the mid-nineties the document was reconsidered, the volume of the guaranteed social rights was expanded. Russia signed a new Charter on September, 14th, 2000. According to the document all member of Charter are obliged to provide reports on performance of obligations taken at its signing and ratification on the regular basis.

According to the report of Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO) now there are not less than 925 million starving in the world. This figure is refers to the beginning of 2008, since then at least 44 million more worldwide were added to the number of starving. The number of starving worldwide to the beginning of 2009 will exceed 1 billion people - it's about 1/6 of all population of the Earth. It's the consequence of a global food crisis. Global financial crisis can aggravate situation even more - consumer ability of the population will be reduced, prices for foodstuffs will be raised, the number of starving will increase. All this leads the world community far and far from the target declared before - to reduce the general level of poverty on the planet to the middle of 2015.

My father-in-law who is now under eighty and who remained the communist (has not handed over the party membership card as others but still keeps it as memory) served in youth in state security bodies up to 54 years. After graduating from School of Ministry of State Security in Lvov he was directed for service to Rovno region into remote regional center Zarechje. When he arrived there, there were three gangs operating in the region: the gang of some Shakh, another one with similarly strange name (I have already forgotten it) and a gang of "extreme reactionary" Коvalenko - the most severe of this Trinity.

Widely advertised "Medvede's hardness" at signing of Sarkozi's plan turns to be latent retreat. Ostensibly coordinated formulation about the status of both "unrecognized" republics disappeared from the plan. That is, the Kremlin is afraid to recognize their independence itself - and doesn't want to put a question about it at a world level. Meanwhile, without recognition of Abkhazia and the Republic of South Ossetia military victory over Georgia loses sense. Moscow exposes itself as aggressor in this case.
