Strike in Zhanaozen Recognized Illegal

All divisions and organisations of "Uzen Munaj Gaz" and joint-stock company "RD (Exploration and Extraction) "Kazakhstan Munaj Gaz" take part in the strike which started on March, 4th and it's already more than ten thousand persons. Nevertheless, negotiation process has not been started yet. Oil industry workers refuse to meet management of affiliated companies to whom they impeached credibility and demanded their resignation, the workers also insist on negotiation directly with the government and fund "Samruk-Kazyna".
Meanwhile, authorities try to gain time and to isolate general strike informatively. Non central channel or large publication has not notified citizens of Kazakhstan on unprecedented action of oil industry workers of Magistausky area begun. >>

Former deputy Minister of Finance of Moscow region Valery Nosov is arrested on suspicion of participation in plunder of 27 billion roubles from the regional budget. Nosov didn't recognize his fault at session of Tver court. As he said, he being the state official only followed instructions of his management, "Interfax" reports.

The president of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko signed changes in the law on presidential elections. Changes concerned organisation of work of election committees, in particular, the law cancels necessity of presence of quorum at a session of election committees. So, in the end Yushchenko expressed himself extremely clearly - the threat of breakdown of elections by supporters of the losing party he considers to be more serious, rather than non-permission of the part of observers (though he quite aware of such threat). >>

On a level of wages Ukraine loses to all countries of Europe - from Belarus and Russia to Bulgaria and France, Italy, Poland. Pensioners, in overwhelming majority, live very badly but average parity of average pension and wages in Ukraine makes 49%, it's been made exclusively from solidary system, that is from payments of the workers. Following the results of October of last year Ukraine already lowered to the last place in Europe on the level of salaries in dollar terms. Over 1,5 thousand settlements in 15 regions of Ukraine remained without electricity because of strong snowfall during past days, the Emergency Control Ministry informs. Vinnitsa, Kiev, Zhitomir, Poltava, Chernigov, Kirovograd and Cherkasdk areas suffered most of all. 52 transformer substations were switched off in Kiev. The second wave of epidemic of ARD simultaneously began - as of December, 28th epidemic carried away lives of already 652 persons. There were no such menacing figures for already three weeks and all somehow already calmed down - it passed... Well, it hasn't passed. >>

GAZ Prepares Forced Vacations and Dismissals

Workers of "Gorkovsky Autovaz" after New Year's holidays will be granted a fortnight vacations which will last till January, 24th. Holiday will be given to 30% of employees of GAZ. Besides, as Okhluchin noted, in the end of July-beginning of August, 2010 fortnight vacation will be granted to workers. He also added that from October, 2008 till December, 2009 a number of workers of GAZ was reduced from 48 thousand to 27 thousand people. >>

Laying offs of the conveyor of "AvtoVaz" this year became the reason of decrease of standard of living of every second citizen of Tolyatti by third and caused social intensity in the city, mayor of Tolyatti Anatoly Pushkov informed in interview to news agency RIA Novosti. "AvtoVaz" this year stopped conveyor three times and sent its employees on vacation - in January, May and August. Since September the factory went on 20-hours working week with payment for actual working time. On monthly results, more than 20 thousand employees of the factory will get salaries lower than living wage estimated in Samara region, that is it's less than 6 thousand roubles.

A year after five-day war between Tbilisi and Moscow president of South Ossetia Edward Kokoiti declared desire of the republic to be a part of Russia. "We will build our statehood but we will be in union with Russia. We do not exclude that we will be a part of the Russian Federation", - Kokoiti said in the interview to agency Reuters.
According to Kokoiti, the overwhelming majority of local population sticks up for joining Russia. Thus president of South Ossetia reminded that about 98% of Southern Ossetians have citizenship of Russia. >>
