Legal defense of ex-head of YUKOS Michael Khodorkovsky and former head of MFO «МЕNATEP» Platon Lebedev asks the court to subpoena prime minister Vladimir Putin. Being the president Putin repeatedly met Khodorkovsky for discussion of questions of development and strategy of oil and gas branch. According to the lawyer, those meetings were prepared in appropriate way and Putin was given all materials about Khodorkovsky. As the lawyer noted, he can give evidences which materials have been studied during preparation for those meetings. About 300 witnesses is specified in the same petition whom defense plans to subpoena.

They may say that understating of rates of economic recession is harmless, for it is put in only in the forecast, while the country lives under the budget imposed on basis as if plausible nominal size of gross national product. However one shouldn't forget that the forecast of social and economic development - complex and ramified document, part of its elements are being calculated on the basis of relative, not absolute parameters - more than fivefold divergence of the last will make the forecast unbalanced. Besides many calculations having concrete - economic and even commercial value are made both in state and in commercial sector on the basis of applications of the government about decrease in gross national product in relative expression, not on the basis of its absolute size. Eventually, key reference point for economy is the value of economic growth (or recession) and many calculations have been already made on this basis and decisions according to them have been already accepted. >>

From the beginning of December, 2008 Bank of Russia has been involving means of banks to special currency correspondent accounts. The reason of it is restriction of buying up of currency by banks: fighting with speculative operations of banks (but not of their clients) Bank of Russia limited currency sums which they could have on corresponding accounts in other commercial banks. Bank of Russia wouldn't include means of the Russian banks from these currency accounts into international reserves of Russia. Thus it roughly and openly breaks methodology of Special Standard of IMF on distribution of data accepted by it and misleads experts and public, overestimating the size of the international reserves and, accordingly, exaggerating degree of stability of the currency market. >>
