Yesterday Tatarstan was shaken by double murderous assault at religious figures: the car of mufti Ildus Fayzov blew up in the center of Kazan, he managed to escape. An hour earlier the deputy mufti Valiull Yakupov died in other district of the city — he was shot in the hall of own house.

Ildus Fayzov: “I already knew about attempt at Valiull Yakupov and, having stopped before traffic light decided to call. In due time I felt the first weak explosion in the nose of the car and jumped out at once — that’s great that I wasn’t fastened”. Fayzov got fracture of both legs but everything could end more terrible: according to the version of investigation, the explosive device was put under forward passenger seat — the mufti usually sits there. But this time the Muslim leader drove the car himself. It saved him life.

The president of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov declared award of one million rubles for information about attempt at the leader of Muslims of the republic. At the moment the police of Kazan works in robust security mode. The republican management of Investigation Committee of Russia reported that the circle of suspects is defined, searches are being carried out.

On Thursday Vladimir Putin sent telegram to Spiritual Directorate of the Muslims of the Republic of Tatarstan, the press service of the Kremlin reports. In the telegram the head of state presented his condolences in connection with attempts at the Muslim spiritual leaders.

Vladimir Putin, the president of the Russian Federation: "I ask to transfer my deep condolences, words of support and sympathy to a family of Valiull Yakupov. I wish mufti Ildus Fayzov the fastest recovery. I want to assure that these crimes will be investigated very carefully and criminals will incur deserved punishment".

“Osobaya Bukva” wrote more exhaustively about the reasons of the event:

"Events in Tatarstan — result of successful policy of extremist groups – adherents of Salafi practice in the Russian Federation and the result of absence of successes in fight of our authorities against original extremism.

For several years security officers were busy with creation of databases of oppositionists, civil activists and other politically unreliable, with closing of their sites, prohibition of their organizations, detention on meetings thinking they were fighting against extremism. In recent months Investigation Committee in close cooperation with FSB and Center "E" were engaged in arrests of anarchist Alexandra Dukhanina, member of the Left Front Vladimir Akimenkov, in digging up of the dirt of Ksenia Sobchak and Alexey Navalny.

Meanwhile the following things were taking place in Russia…

The head of the Caucasian emirate Dokka Umarov published fatwa according to which “true Muslims” are recommended not to limit their attention to the North Caucasus, but to work as well in the Volga region having partially moved there. As “Independent Newspaper” writes, the purpose of Islamists is creation of vilayet Idel-Ural in the Muslim republics of the Volga region being component of the Big Caucasian emirate.

Such Umarov's doctrine quite fits canons of Salafi strategy in Russia. The course on internationalization of Islamic resistance was taken not yesterday. In October, 2007 the leader of bandit underground Dokka Umarov abolished the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria and proclaimed the Caucasian emirate which includes other Caucasian republics besides Chechnya and appointed himself emir of the emirate. Thus, final refusal of the “national liberation struggle” of the Chechens against "empire" took place, “jihad against disbelievers” triumphed.

No wonder that soon the emirate felt itself uncomfortable within the Caucasus and its leaders included the Volga region in the sphere of its interests. At that the Caucasian emissaries found allies among a part of the Tatar nationalists: the last are imposed by plans of the followers of Salafi to create the Tatar vilayet within borders of the Golden Horde, they have been dreaming of separation from Russia for long, let it happen even under Islamic banners.

Thus for several years the Caucasian Mujahideens and the Caucasian wahabite theologians moved to Tatarstan, entered local society, gained authority in mosques, in religious communities, gathered enthusiastic neophytes around.

It’s unknown what the republican power structures were doing all this time. Probably, chased Irek Murtazin for "slander". While it is known that federal security officers were engaged in — see above".

- There is one more aspect of a problem which all commentators miss for some reason, - editor-in-chief of Forum.msk Anatoly Baranov noted. – It’s clericalisation of political life in Russia. If religion didn't become policy, there would be no sense for terrorist to kill priests. Unfortunately, Russian Orthodox Church turned into analog of "United Russia" in Russia and "traditional faiths" - Islam, Judaism and Buddhism became analogs of toothless Duma opposition. While those religious organizations which are "forbidden" automatically pass to the category of extremist. Everything is similar to policy with one difference that degree of sincerity and fanaticism is higher in religious questions - therefore no one attempts at Zyuganov, while as we can see situation with muftis connected with the state is different... Putin presents his condolences. At the times of Rome political extremist Varavva was released, while religious extremist Jesus was crucified. For 300 years political extremists were exiled to the remote provinces, while religious extremists-Christians became food for lions. Religion as policy is more dangerous than policy without religion. Who attempted muftis? We will learn it soon thanks to the Roman rule: "Cui prodest".
