That’s just great! In response to my article "The temple or the pool" I was sent simply tremendous materials from Novosibirsk: it appears, local priests decided to forbid Picasso's exhibition for promotion of perversions. The Novosibirsk metropole of the Russian Orthodox Church was revolted with the fact that opening of exhibition of engravings of Pablo Picasso in the state local history museum coincided with Purification of Virgin Mary and Day of Orthodox Youth. Can you just imagine what horror it is?!
Even I do not know what to say! It is possible to say that exhibition “Temptation. Pablo Picasso” or series Suite 347 can be found in Picasso's museums in Barcelona and Paris, in Institute of Arts of Chicago, in Fond of Gottfried Keller (Switzerland), Ludwig's Museum in Cologne (Germany), National Library of France and in the Museum of Israel in Jerusalem. Or that every museum of the world dreams to have Picasso's works, that at last prohibition of painting ban is in general similar to medieval inquisition.
But I do not think that it will somehow impress the Russian Orthodox Church. Something prompts me that with pleasure they would kindle huge fires on the central squares of our cities and would burn both Picasso, Pushkin, Tolstoy together with the girls from Pussy Riot group and all doubting in justice of the present domestic world order. Here they would achieve the Kingdom of Heaven of local bottling.
I believe that absolute prohibition of every relations between man and woman would be next step of the gone crazy workers of cult as there is a theme of temptation and other ungodly things there including even, I am scared to say, some perversions which certain irresponsible citizens can allow themselves to do without church supervision.
Besides I am sure that all this clerical madness is strongly necessary to someone, because hardly our chubby and timid Lord's servants would risk to arrange such orgy independently.
