The State Office of Public Prosecutor of Ukraine arrested property of the ex-prime minister Yulia Timoshenko and former Minister of Internal Affairs Yury Lutsenko accused of excess of the power and who now are under trials.
It is not known yet what sum Timoshenko will pay, while Lutsenko lost the property for the sum of 1,7 million grivnas (more than 200 thousand dollars) - his property and apartments were arrested.
Law enforcement bodies also try to find out the property belonging to Timoshenko though legally executed on relatives and figureheads, it will give to court possibility to dispose of this property with the purpose of indemnification to the state of the loss caused by her activity.
The State Office of Public Prosecutor estimates damage caused by the ex-prime minister to the state only in "gas business" in 1,5 billion grivnas (about 187,5 million dollars).

From editorial board: Of course, we feel pity for the damaged property. We also feel pity for Julia Vladimirovna - how will she live absolutely without property? Nothing to cover nakedness, no sofa to lie down - there is no sofa, it's arrested. It's somehow ugly, non-aesthetic.
On the other hand - unless it's good and esthetical to arrest the property of simple citizens, say, for utility bills debts, for gas?
Besides, they take away not life, not freedom, just property - it's abundantly clear that the world becomes more humane. Though all the same we come nude to this world, we leave it nude. Julia Vladimirovna's nakedness will also serve strengthening of democratic institutes of Ukraine. Let's say, the Ukrainian society learns in details how the heads of the government acquire property well-being in the course of execution of duties given to them. As the salary of the officials - well-known thing, it is possible to compare the level of legal incomes and the degree of real well-being.
Unfortunately, here in Russia we can only guess the level of real incomes of the great officials of the state. Though it is quite probable that when their turn to make prison cells habitable comes, this information will also go public.
