Putin's "Cold War" Will End by Break Down of Not Berlin but the Kremlin Wall

Putin's "Cold War" Will End by Break Down of Not Berlin but the Kremlin Wall
07.09.2007

The group of eight Russian strategic bomber aircrafts "Tu-95" made a flight above Barents Sea near the Norwegian air space. Joint Staff of armed forces of Norway informed about it on Thursday. "To specify" air space of Norway two "F-16" lifted in the sky. The Norwegian militarians noted that bomber aircrafts were close to air space of Norway but didn't intrude in it. Movements of "Tu-95" were also watched by planes of the British Air Forces. Fighters "Tornado" of Royal British Air Forces were lifted under alarm in connection with approach of the Russian bomber aircrafts Tu-95 to the borders of the air space of the Great Britain in the morning of the 6th of September, the British telechannel Sky News informs.

The assistant to the commander-in-chief of the Air Forces of Russia Alexander Drobyshevsky informed that the planes of NATO accompanied practically all strategic bomber aircrafts of Russia which had started patrol works of distant territories. Flights renewed in the evening on September, 5th. Planes Tu-95 MS carry out patrol works above water areas of Pacific, Atlantic and Arctic oceans with refueling in the air.

On the 17th of August, 2007 president Putin declared that Russia renewed flights of strategic aircraft in the distant regions on the regular basis. Those flights were interrupted in 1992.

Reaction of NATO didn't keep waiting: on September, 4th large-scale exercises of NATO "Bold Avenger-2007" with participation of 13 countries of alliance including Poland, Romania and Czechia began in Norway. According to the press release of the Air Forces of NATO more than 100 planes including air fuel transporters, planes of distant radar-tracking maintenance and electronic struggle are involved. Besides 1450 people of the ground personnel. All these forces are placed on the base Orland in the central Norway. Commander-in-Chief of the Air Forces of NATO American General Williams Hobbins, General-Mayor Jacques Jensen (Netherlands) and Colonel of the Norwegian Air Forces Stig Nilsson are in control of exercises.

- Whether today's Russia is ready to new "cold war", - political scientist Vladimir Filin wonders. - On the 17th of August Vladimir Putin placed a request on participation in new repartition of spheres of international influence, but whether the defensive industry of Russia is ready to a new arms race? Today there is neither Warsaw pact, nor the USSR, meanwhile the countries of NATO replenished with eastern European states and the countries of Baltic. So, in reply to a rise in air of eight ancient turbo-propeller Tu-95 - exercises of NATO, in which more than 100 planes are involved. This is - demonstration of real correlation of forces, real retardation which will only gain weight at the continuation of present military-technical policy.

"The real condition of the Russian Air Forces is in direct dependence on condition of a military-industrial complex, - editor-in-chief of FORUM.msk Anatoly Baranov makes comments on a situation. - The condition is pitiable. Jet bombers Tu-160 in the quantity we have are not capable to cover completely the need in aviation making nuclear triads, while Tu-95 represents simply "Stone Age". Construction of new rocket carriers is carried out only on paper, at that in newspaper one. The condition of naval part of a triad is not better - promising rocket for "Bulava" is in unfinished condition and new nuclear submarines will go down from slips without armament. But the process of construction of nuclear submarines is also prolonged, it doesn't get ready after break downs of old ones. As a result Russia will soon have afloat 2-3 nuclear underwater cruisers, moreover being armed so-so. Yesterday's, it is necessary to mention, accident with a rocket "Proton" on start also obviously shows that basic core of nuclear triad, strategic nuclear forces, is not in battle readiness. It's not a secret that developed in Construction Bureau "Salute" (former Construction Bureau V.N.Chelomeja) rocket "Proton" is created on the basis of intercontinental ballistic missile UR-500 in 1967. Development of UR-500 as Intercontinental Ballistic Missile was suspended in the end of 1964 and its further development was carried out as space vehicle. So, analysis of this, as a matter of fact, very reliable carrier shows that this system has reached "expiry date".

Till 1996, that is within almost 30 years there is no info about accident with "Protons".

On November, 16th, 1996 placing into orbit with a help of booster rocket "Proton-K" of interplanetary station "Mars-96" ended with failure.

On December, 25th, 1997 we failed to start the Hong Kong-Chinese satellite "Asiasat-3" from cosmodrome "Baikonur" because of non-normal work of the second inclusion of upper stage "Proton-K".

On July, 5th, 1999 there was a failure of a booster rocket "Proton-K" which should place military satellite "Rainbow". The cause - ignition of turbo-pump unit of one of the engines of the second missile stage. The satellite together with not separated missile stage fell on the territory of Altay territory.

On October, 27th, 1999 at the start-up of a booster rocket "Proton-K" with communication satellite "Express-A" ignition of a rocket occurred of the fourth minute of the flight. Fragments of the carrier fell on the territory of Kazakhstan.

On November, 26th, 2002 start of the European communication satellite "Astra-1K" by the rocket "Proton-K" within the limits of the commercial program failed. During the second inclusion of the upper stage of DM-3 of a rocket premature separation of the satellite occurred owing to it "Astra"was not placed into orbit and was lost.

On February, 28th, 2006 the rocket "Proton-K" which started from the cosmodrome should have place the Arabian communication satellite "Arabsat-4A" into orbit. However the space vehicle was not placed into predicted orbit.

- That is 8 failures for 11 years of work, - Anatoly Baranov noted. - It can be a serious signal of that once the Russian liquid-fuel ICBM which have been in the inventory for already tens years, will not leave mine launchers in general or will fail at a stage of dispersal and placing into orbit. Speaking roughly - they can appear to be unreliable. And new solid-fuel rockets of a type "Topol-M" come in the inventory obviously in insufficient quantity to compensate ICBM on liquid fuel becoming incapacitated. Well, what nuclear arms race we are talking about? Certainly, as PR for the future successor, especially if Sergey Ivanov would take this post, such clanking by senile muscles quite suits. But further in the inheritance the successor will receive also a problem in a form of real, not virtual arms race in which we have no chances to win - the USSR also broke down in it and our industrial production, I'll remind, hasn't reach even late Soviet level...
